A life of worship

Image
" And so brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and a holy sacrifice, the kind he would find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him". Romans 1 vs 1 Growing up as a child, I could not count the number of times that my Sunday school teachers repeatedly told us that when we come to church, we should leave our stubbornness and  naughtiness outside the church gates then come in quietly and be in our best behaviour because we are in the presence of God, and when we were on our way home we could pick up from where we dropped off at the gate as long as it was not carried into the house of God. What this did to me as a child  was that, I grew up with the mindset that it is only in church on Sundays that I get to be holy, so for years, I grew up in the lie that God is not interested in how I live my life during the week, all that mattered was how holy I can be whil...

THROUGH THE LENSES OF GOD

Image
When a child is born, he can be compared with a clean sheet of paper. He comes void of the contamination the world has to offer, But overtime, after sufficient interaction with his physical environments, family, school, etc., this child is exposed to the process of gaining experiences which begins to draw and imprints on what was once a clean sheet of paper, now a baby who has no cares, worries or fears starts to develop what we call mindsets, ideologies which in most time is not gotten from the truth of God’s word. An average human, by the age of 15 has a compilation of different thoughts about themselves, habits and lifestyle patterns which may be positive, negative and sometimes even self-destructive. When such a person is met with the gift of salvation that is made available to all man by grace Ephesians 1 vs 6, he is introduced to a new system of leadership and consequently a new way of life, renewed mindsets and a new consultancy system. I would like to focus on this consulta...

Managing emotions

Image
‭‭James‬ ‭1:19‭-‬20‬ ‭NIV‬‬  My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires.    Emotions are a part of every human being, it is an undeniable part of our anatomy. They sometimes play a major role in the decisions we make from time to time and if not managed properly, we can tend to make mistakes in the spur of these moments. As Christians, living with emotions that runs wild and uncontrolled is very dangerous for us because, decisions taken with an uncontrolled emotion is usually a terrible one that hunts us later in life. The bible speaking in the book of  Proverb 25 vs 28 says “A man without self-control is like a city broken into and left without walls” This is a powerful verse because it likens a man to a city that can be accessed without any form of resistance or protection. In the medieval times, mighty nations to...

BEYOND GUILT

Image
" FORGET THE FORMER THINGS, DO NOT DWELL ON THE PAST, FOR I AM DOING A NEW THING" ISAIAH 43 VS 18 - 19 Guilt according to the oxford dictionary, is feeling responsible or regretful for a perceived offence, real or imaginary, it can be said to be part of the grief reaction to an event that occurred in the past. Personally, I believe that guilt is a weight that holds us down to the past and limits our ability to move forward in life. In your Christian journey, there might have been moments when your strength was weak or you used words that you shouldn’t use or you made a mistake that affected someone you care about negatively, regardless, mistakes and shortcomings are part of our lives’ journey and moving beyond the feeling of guilt is crucial to our personal development, because if guilt is not dealt with properly, it has the ability to keep one in a continuous phase of regret and it gives room to a poor state of mind which leads to the inability to progress positively out...

THE GIFT OF MEN

Image
When Moses hands grew tired, they took a stone and put it under him, and he sat on it. Aaron and Hur held his hands up one on one side, one on the other, so that his hands remain steady” EXODUS 17: 12 – 13 In our journey of becoming all that the Lord has written about us, we should be careful not to trivialize the role of men who can appear in form of brothers, sisters, friends e.t.c. Sadly, we live in a world that has taught us that everyone is our competition and rival, it turns out that we have a generation growing that doesn’t know the importance of friendship and the need for support systems in their lives. The importance of friends, people that share the same vision with you and people that are willing to go out of their way to see you rise can never be over buttressed. In life, there are days that you know what is to be done but have little strength, one of the ways help would come to you is through the men around you. One of the ways God blesses men is by giving them t...

Faith for Action

Image
“If you have faith as little as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, move and it will” Mathew 17 vs  20. Compliments of the season to you dear friend. I welcome you officially into the new year. Just like every year before now, at the beginning of the year, prayers and prophesies are spoken over our lives, and like how our Christian journey starts with having faith and believing in the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, so is faith required to be able to see these words that have been released over our lives come to pass. But is faith enough? You might be thinking, this year is not different from others that you watched pass, and nothing was fulfilled, but this year won’t be any different from all others if you don’t take a different and well-informed step. Yes, faith is enough. Believing in the word spoken by God through his servant is enough and necessary, but most people tend to forget that faith goes hand in hand with actions. In the bible, the Lord promised...

Foxes in the vines

Image
“CATCH ALL THE FOXES, THE LITTLE FOXES BEFORE THEY RUIN THE VINEYARD OF LOVE, FOR THE GRAPEVINES ARE BLOSSOMING” SONGS OF SONG 2 VS 15. When I first came across this verse, I went on research to find out how foxes can ruin a vineyard, and I found out that because of their small size, they can`t reach the fruit of the vines, so they chew at the base of the vine until it breaks, then they cart away with the fruits that drops along-side the broken-down vines. Most farmers consider them a threat because they not only steal the fruits, but they ruin the vine completely, thus ruin the entire effort of the season, so you see the need, why they should be caught. In our journey of maximizing our gifts to the point of fruit bearing, they are tendencies for foxes to come at our lives and ruin our efforts at self-development, we would be discussing some of these foxes. Foxes in the context of our lives are not animals but are character traits that hinders our transformation in Christ, some o...
