POTENTIALS IN OUR GIFTS

 

                       

POTENTIALS is the inherent ability for something to grow, just like a seed has the potential to grow, egg the ability to become a bird etc., man also has the ability to grow, be fruitful and multiply.

GIFTS are the capabilities that God has factored into every human being on earth, now I am not talking in the context of the gift of the spirits like prophesies, visions, etc. I am talking in context of our physical abilities like singing, leadership skills, dancing, mixing of sounds, creativity etc.

These are gifts that we have right from birth and is not dependent on if you are a believer or not, because it is inbuilt and most time we tend to neglect and underrate them because we don’t see them as important or we are busy coveting another person's gifts. But we forget that it is” the gift of men that makes way for him” proverb 18 vs 16.

DO WE NEED GOD TO SUCCECED

Well, my opinion is yes of course, but not really, permit me to explain.

Have you ever wondered how unbelievers seem to be exceling more than the believers that has the Holy Spirit and all the advantages he offers? These set of people that have no regard for the ways of God and the consequences of this is that we live in a world where laws, lifestyles and principles, have no regard or reference to the ways of God.

It is because God has put in every man, a gift that has the ability to grow and become a channel in which he/she can contribute and be an effective part of the world. But we need our own diligence in order to grow these gifts to the point of relevance, proverb 12 vs 24 says “DILIGENT HANDS WILL RULE, BUT LAZYINESS ENDS IN HARD LABOUR”.

But as believers, we are too caught up in the lie that prayer is all that we need thrive in this world, but it really isn’t. Am I disputing the importance of prayer? of course not, what I am saying is that prayer is a means to an end. Growing up, I was told prayer is communication to God, now that I am older, I know for a fact that for effective communication to take place, two parties must be active in the process, so praying is not enough, feedback is necessary.

As a person, growing up you have always had the qualities of a leader, communicating with the holy spirit should open your eyes to the possibilities of a global impact. But in your lifetime, the Holy Spirit won’t read a book on leadership for you, he won’t attend a conference on leadership on your behalf, these are activities that hone your skills and make them excellent for you to make global impact because ‘The nations shall come to your light, kings will come to the brightness of your rising” Isaiah 60 vs 3. There is a level of influence believes needs to rise to in order to effectively influence our society, and our gift is a means to that.

How do I know God wants the body of Christ to influence the world, well because he said so in Isaiah 2 vs 3 “MANY PEOPLE WILL COME AND SAY, COME, LET US GO UP TO THE MOUNTAIN OF THE LORD, TO THE TEMPLE OF GOD OF JACOB. HE WILL TEACH US HIS WAYS, SO THAT WE WILL WALK IN HIS PART, THE LAW WILL GO OUT FROM ZION”.

This verse opens our eyes to the possibilities that there is a level of excellence the body of Christ will exhibit, that a world that is known for devising ways to go against the ways of God will say, let us go to the house of God, to know his ways.

But when they come, will they meet bunches of mediocre, people that hasn’t grown their abilities to a point of excellence, people who are not bubbling with ideas to make global impact, people who are too lazy to pay the price of discipline to maximize the potential of their gifts.

The world is in a downward spiral because we as believers are not found in places of influence. There is an urgent need for sons of God to rise to different sphere of influence like the media, fashion, music industries, movies industries, teaching, politics, health, science, art, agriculture, tourism etc. There is a need to build so much value that the world will be forced to seek the ways of the Lord, because diverse solutions can be found in the body of Christ, but we cannot get to this point if we don’t pay the price to grow and maximize our potentials.

I pray that God gives us the grace to be effective representatives of him here of earth.
