RENEWING OUR MINDS IN CHRIST

            Being saved in Christ is a new journey, it is the start of a brand-new life {2 cor.5 vs 17} and just like the normal human life, a lot of growth, development and renewal of mind needs to take place for a believer to fully grow into the plan of God for their lives.

   " DO NOT BE CONFORMED TO THE PATTERN OF THE WORLD BUT BE TRANSFORMED BY THE RENEWING OF YOUR MIND {ROMANS 12 VS 2}".

One of the first things, required from us in this new phase of our lives is to come into the understanding that we do not live and operate according to the worlds' standards but by the principles of God words.

The need for the renewal of our minds cannot be over emphasized. we would be walking through the process of renewing our mind. Firstly

  • LEAVING THE SETBACKS OF THE PAST LIFE
            All our lives, right from birth up until we received salvation, we have gone through different experiences that has help to shape our mindsets as regards to who we are and some of these experiences most times do not give us the accurate mind of God. We have picked up polluted ideologies, beatdown mindsets that contradicts the original plan of God in our lives and sometimes the enemy deceives us with our experiences in other to hold us captives. you may be thinking," I have every right to feel this way, after all I never get anything right" or " I am not as good as others because I am not as tall or curvy or even hairy like my peers".
  Well, that is a big lie, because our experience should not tell us who we are, but the word of God. An average human before the age of 15 undergoes series of life experiences that leaves them disappointed, lonely, angry, bitter, full of pride and the list goes on, over time this experiences leaves us a with a feeling of self-hate, low self-esteem and pride, now coming into salvation, you are hit with the hard truth that those feelings doesn't just go away, that is the reason why it is possible to see a believer who genuinely loves God and wants to serve him but still has a very low opinion of their selves, this is because the renewal of the mind is a process and it must be followed accordingly. {EPHESIANS 4 VS 22 - 24}

  • GOD HAS AN OPINION ABOUT YOU

      Every believer should know for a fact that God has an opinion about you, and it is not dependent on your physical looks, your achievements, your strengths, abilities and even your mistakes. The bible lets us know that he knew us before we were formed in our mothers' womb, Jeremiah 1 vs 5,

 this verse tells me that even before I came into this world, even before my achievements, my mistakes and even before the world told me that I am not tall enough, or light skinned enough, God already knows who I am.

GOD made you, he knows every unique ability, features that he put in us that make us different from every other person. As a believer walking around with this consciousness is a very powerful deliverance because it places in our hearts the hunger to know who God says that you are.

Most believers never come to the point where they want to know what God is saying about them and their lives hence, they fall into the constant loop of comparing and deriving opinions from the worlds' standards, thereby creating an avenue for the devil to keep them trapped and feeling not good enough.

  "Growing up, I walked around not knowing who I was in Christ, my gifts, abilities, strengths and even weaknesses, which in turn gave room for self-doubt, pride, anger, constant comparison and it didn't matter that I genuinely loved God and wanted to do his will, I still found all of this finding expression in my life, because the bible tells us that AS THE MAN THINKS SO IS HE {PROVERBS 23 VS 7}.Now that I am deliberately giving myself to the study of the word and prayer, and always walking with the consciousness of the holy spirit living in me, there has been a renewing of my mind over time so much so that some of the things I struggled with somehow faded away, I am now more confident in myself and this new reality has helped with my relationship with people around me, I no longer have my episodes of  outburst, I am more understanding and jealousy has walked out of my life because I don't go about comparing myself to anyone, being kind comes easily to me now, all this were possible in my life because of the renewal of my mind and coming into the consciousness of who I am in Christ."

        What I am trying to say that transformation is a process, but there has to be something or someone bringing about the change.

In a Christian's lifetime there are provisions made available by God to us to help us be transformed and one of these provisions is the person of THE HOLYSPIRIT dwelling in us {2 Corinthians 6 vs 16}, because who is in the best position to tell us a person's mind if not his own spirit {1 Corinthians 2 vs 11}

Building a relationship with the holy spirit is one of the best lifehack as a believer, it is not enough to just have him dwelling in you, believer needs to see the importance of building a personal relationship with him and submitting and trusting that he has the blueprint of your life and trust him to bring you to an expected end.
  •   other provisions to knowing the thought of God towards you is the ministry of the word of God and by prayer. {Romans 12 vs 2}

"We use God’s mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments."

     This verse tells us of the power and effects of the word of God in our lives and mind.
The word of God is life, and it brings light to whosoever consumes it, constant consumption of this word brings about a dimension of growth in the knowledge of who God is, his thoughts for us and Ofcourse all that he has made available for us through his son Jesus Christ.
Prayer is another provision made available to us, it is when we communicate our fears, hopes, pains to God, it is by the means of prayer that we can build dependency on God, praying also stirs up our faith in the word of God.
  • And of course, the place of people with like FAITH AND BELIEFs can never be over emphasized, the bible said in {proverb 27 vs 17}

   "IRON SHARPENETH IRON"

  In Hebrews 10 vs 24, apostle Paul encourage us to not neglect the place of fellowship with fellow brethren of the faith. As humans, experiences are one of the ways we learn, and it doesn't have to be our personal experiences, we could always learn from other because in the end there is nothing new under the sun. Relating and being rooted in the body of Christ helps us in so many ways, support systems, people to encourage and remind you of the word of God in the days of your little faith are really important to survive in the world today.

There is a need for believers to come out of self-doubt, self-loathing and the feeling of emptiness, because we are the light of the world, if we can't come out from the bushel of darkness and renew our minds to the point our mindsets and thoughts aligns with God, showing the world our light would be difficult to achieve.

I PRAY THAT GOD GIVES US THE GRACE TO COME INTO ALL HE HAS PLANNED FOR US THROUGH HIS SON JESUS CHRIST.
