Faith for Action
“If you have faith as little as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, move and it will” Mathew 17 vs 20.
Compliments of the season to you dear friend. I
welcome you officially into the new year.
Just like every year before now, at the beginning of
the year, prayers and prophesies are spoken over our lives, and like how our
Christian journey starts with having faith and believing in the sacrifice of
Jesus Christ, so is faith required to be able to see these words that have been
released over our lives come to pass.
But is faith enough?
You might be thinking, this year is not different from
others that you watched pass, and nothing was fulfilled, but this year won’t be
any different from all others if you don’t take a different and well-informed step.
Yes, faith is enough. Believing in the word spoken by God through his servant is enough and necessary, but most people tend to forget that
faith goes hand in hand with actions.
In the bible, the Lord promised the Israelites a land
that he had promised to give their fore father Abraham. Interestingly this land
was already occupied by others, so they still needed to take a step to fight
and physically conquer the land that had already been given to them. At a
turning point of takeover, they lacked the faith to go in and conquer the land,
hence it led to 40 years of waste.
As we go into the new year, every promise the lord had
spoken to you by his Word and through his prophets is possible, you just have
to believe and take the necessary actions, it can be a bold step like in the
case of our father Abraham, where he left all he had ever known to follow God’s
promise of a better land or it could be little steps like in the case of Jacob
when he had faith that God would give him increase irrespective of Labans’ plot
to cheat him, we see his faith in action
when he added the branches whose bark had been peeled off into the
flocks watering troughs thus increasing his livestock.
All across scripture, every time faith was portrayed
it was followed by corresponding actions, the woman with issue of blood, Peter
when fishing, Joshua, Esther, Jesus, these are different references in the bible
for your personal study.
Take bold steps this year, build yourself in
preparation for the promises that you believe are coming and most importantly
speak only what the Lord has told you concerning your life irrespective of physical signs that the current state of your life doesn’t look like the promise just yet.
I read a book once, it was written by Andrew Wommack,
where he shared his story on how he was trusting God to help him discover his
purpose, he shared how he got what he was looking for but needed a platform to truly
show and use his God given gift of counsel, he prayed and had faith that God
would provide a suitable platform, he went ahead to read books and develop his
skills in preparation for the provision of God. He had recently applied for a job
and God told him that was his platform, it was funny because he was given the
job of an account analyst or so, where he would almost never meet people, but he
went by faith and somehow he was always in the right places and at the right
time when some needed counseling or just a friend to talk to, years went by and
he was still the accountant who everyone went to for advice. Though it looked
like years were passing by and he wasn’t progressing, he had faith, he kept on
talking to people and growing his skills, then out of nowhere a contract of a
counseling company was dissolved and because he was known for giving counsel,
he was recommended for the post even though he didn’t have a company or life coaching
qualification and that was how he started his first paid coaching services.
I pray for all of us this year, that we have the faith
to take actions and build ourselves in preparation for all the Lord has promised
us this year, in Jesus' name.
